3. Quattro river rally 2024 - day one
5. April 2024, Karlovac
This was a special day for me. For the first time sience Rally des' Ardendes my girlfriend attended a rally with me. We made a roadtrip out of it and of course had a picnic by the river Korana.
Anyways we packed our stuff and left out home a bit later than we planned but all was alright. It was also our first trip by car and we felt super excited.
The plan was to go and visit the servite park at ŠRC Korana and scope out the cars. I looked forward to Pepe Lopez who produced a stunning drive in Monete-Carlo but he managed to escape me every time, so I don't have any pictures of his car
from the service park. I used my Nikkon camera for this rally entirely both beacause I forgot to buy film and the film is expensive at the moment.
When we arrived to the service park we parked our car next to some Checz team's camper. And right besides was their tent with a two beutiful Skoda 130's. They really got to me, I think they are absolutely unique and beautiful cars. Don't just
take my word for it my girlfriend picked the number 88 as her favourite and as someone to cheer for.
We took a look around the service park and took the following pictures.
Then we took a walk to the ceremonial start podium and through the city a bit. We saw some cars returning
from the shakedown.
Back in the service park there were also some cars competing in regularity rally, at least I think so.
A nice Subaru Legacy and Porsche Carrera.
It was time for the ceremonial start and a perfect oppertunity to take some pictures of the cars.
I really like the way this Opel Kadet 2.0 looks, and I got another car to cheer for.
Several hours have passed by now and we got a bit of thirsty and hungry so we went to a cafe behind the service park and for a picnic besides the
Korana river. It was a very sunny day and much warmer than we expected and the heat was getting to us and made us a little drowsy.
After we rested a bit, we headed to our first and only stage this day. We just couldn't stay awake after this one and decided to go home as I will
be returning for some more rally tommorow.
The stage we attended was SS 2 - Kukača - Donje Primišlje. We arrived a bit late so we stayed relativly close
to the start of the stage. But it was an okay place and we were near the cars.
So this was it for the day. Overall I was quite suprised by the diversity of cars and cotestants. There were people from all over Europe
and some even from Asia. I was sad to leave early but excirted for tommorow.
